After taking several years off from New Year’s Eve parties, we figured it might be time to try it once again with the kids being a little older. We decided to go and just stay till about 10. Then we promised the boys they could try to make it to midnight once we got home. That way, if they started to lose it or just couldn’t make it, they would have the option of just going to bed. So, we set out for the Pritts’ for dinner and games. Once dinner was over, we started with a rousing game of Pit. I LOVED this game growing up and have such great memories of my family sitting in a circle all screaming out at the same time as we traded commodities. (Turns out there’s a Jr. version that I cannot wait to get for the boys!) I tried to get a shot of the fury of trading going on, but had to do it while playing…so this is the shot I got…10 times.
Oh well, it really was fun. Then, the party calmed down a bit while we all took some time for social media and political debating.
Margaret and I started to feel a little left out, so we decided to spice things up together.
I tried throughout the evening to get a few shots of ‘the couple’, but Zoe still will not let me take a good pic of her. In a few years I’ll let her know she should start giving me nice pictures or these will appear on the big screen at her wedding reception. (We haven’t told them yet. I feel that if they know they are betrothed, they’ll only rebel for a bit before giving in to the inevitable.) Anyway, it started out with ‘who is taller?’
Then we tried the “Smile for me!”
He tried to control his woman, but it didn’t quite work…
At this point, we noticed it was almost midnight! So we stuck around and then things really got lively!

So proud of both boys for making it to midnight.
Hope you rang in the New Year with great friends like we did.
