Once a week, Mac has to write in his Sound Book. He has to write five words that start with the letter of the week. I cannot tell him how to spell it. He has to listen to the sounds of the word and write them on his own. When I saw this, I was ecstatic! I totally get the idea that spelling doesn’t matter, it’s that they’re learning the letter sounds. But I had no idea how hard it would be to watch and not interfere!! I literally have to bite my tongue not to teach him the language rules. It’s not allowed. The teacher said they’ll learn those as they get older, but not now. It’s hard! But he’s doing so well.
